Project Summary
Case Study: RedRock Resurfacing CMS Conversion
RedRock was on a tight budget and looking to make some improvements to their website and also for a web development firm that could be more responsive to their need for ongoing maintenance. They also had a list of SEO related changes that they needed to make. Point B Web provided the solution by converting the existing site to the PBW CMS platform. The result is a website that is search engine optimized, easy for RedRock's own staff to maintain, and an excellent relationship with Point B Web to provide future feature development for their growing franchise operations.
Problem
The RedRock website was a data driven website built on ColdFusion and had many technical issues that their previous developers were slow to address. RedRock was determined to move the site to a new webhost and establish a new relationship with a more responsive development team. RedRock was generally happy with the existing design of the site and did not want to spend more money redesigning it. They wanted features added such as a secure area for franchisee documents, a customized form for "Free Estimate" requests, improved navigation and better content management capabilities.
Solution
Our proposed solution was to implement the existing design over our highly customizable PBW CMS platform. We took their existing styles and content, fixed some of the issues, updated content as requested during the migration process and rebuilt their Flash™ slideshow using a more usable javascript tool that allowed more visitor interaction. We provided administrative training to RedRock's content manager that allowed her to easily make changes to the content as needed and gave her the ability to do so going forward. Because PBW CMS already has the SEO tools and features built in, we were able to easily implement all the SEO recommendations that they were unable to accomplish on their old site. Point B Web also developed a custom quote form for the new "Free Estimate" feature that routes the request to the appropriate franchise contact.
Result
The result is a much more robust, search engine friendly and optimized website, and less reliance on any web developer for content updates. RedRock is very pleased with the new site.
