Remember, when choosing a web development or design firm to be sure to look carefully at the firms completed websites.  First be sure you like the firms design style and from there check to see if the sites contain functionality similar to your project, e.g. ecmmerce, community site etc... then ask the firm if the same designer whose work is in their portfolio will be the one working on the project, as some firms use lower cost resources for lower budget projects. And if the design is contracted out request to see design samples from the designer they will be contracting with. Otherwise you may not get a site design any where near the quality of the webfirms portfolio site!
